Lily's Biggest Adventure Yet

'There's a baby growing in here,' Mummy said, placing Lily's small hand on her tummy. 'A tiny person, getting bigger every day.' Lily's eyes went wide. 'A BABY? Inside you?' 'Yes! And when the baby comes out, you're going to be a big sister.' Suddenly, something bumped against Lily's hand from inside Mummy's tummy! 'It kicked me!' Lily gasped. 'The baby's saying hello to you,' Mummy laughed.

That night, Lily couldn't sleep. She hugged Mr. Whiskers tight and stared at the ceiling. 'What if Mummy and Daddy love the baby more than me?' she whispered. A tear rolled down her cheek onto her pillow. 'I was here first,' Lily sighed.

The next morning, Daddy found Lily poking at her breakfast. 'You look like you're thinking hard thoughts,' he said. 'Will you still love me when the baby comes?' Daddy pulled her into a big hug. 'Love is magic. The more people you love, the MORE love you have.'

'You know what else?' Daddy said. 'You have something the baby won't have.' 'What?' 'Big kid powers! You can run fast and tell jokes!' Lily sat up straighter. 'I can teach the baby!' she exclaimed.

Lily had the best idea EVER. 'I'm going to make the baby's room perfect!' She painted a rainbow picture and arranged stuffed animals in a line. 'The baby will know someone loves them already,' Lily said proudly.

Lily went to her room and picked up her yellow duck—her very first toy. 'The baby needs something special from me,' she said, placing it in the crib. Mummy's eyes got shiny with happy tears.

One morning, Lily woke up to Grandma making pancakes. 'Where's Mummy and Daddy?' 'At the hospital, sweetheart. The baby is coming TODAY!' Lily's tummy did a flip. Today!

In the hospital, Mummy held the tiniest person Lily had ever seen. 'This is your baby brother, Oliver.' Lily touched his tiny hand. His fingers curled around hers and held on tight.

Mummy helped Lily hold Oliver just right. 'I'm Lily, your big sister. I'll teach you everything.' She kissed his soft forehead, her heart feeling bigger than ever. Being a big sister was the best adventure yet!
