Where's Whiskers?

Oliver peeked under his bed. He saw dust bunnies and a lost sock. But no Whiskers! “Not here,” said Oliver, pouting a little.

The curtains were wiggling! Oliver pulled them back. Whoosh! Just the wind. “No Whiskers there either,” he sighed, scratching his curly red hair.

Whiskers loved warm things! Oliver looked in the laundry basket and dug through the towels—pink towel, blue towel. “No orange kitty!” he exclaimed, a little disappointed.

Wait! Oliver saw something in the kitchen. Little wet paw prints by the water bowl! “Clues!” said Oliver, eyes sparkling with excitement. He followed them.

The paw prints led through the kitchen, down the hallway, and stopped at the big closet! “Where could you be, Whiskers?” he wondered, heart racing.

Oliver listened at the closet door. What was that sound? Purr… purr… purr… “I hear you, Whiskers!” he said, grinning wide.

Oliver opened the door. There was Whiskers! Curled up in a cozy pile of scarves! “Found you!” Oliver laughed, feeling a warm glow inside.

Oliver scooped up his fluffy cat. Whiskers purred and rubbed his pink nose against Oliver’s cheek. “You found the best hiding spot,” Oliver chuckled, batting at the scarves.

They snuggled on the couch together. Oliver and Whiskers, best friends. Tomorrow, Whiskers would hide again. And Oliver would find him! “Where will you hide next?” Oliver asked, already excited for the next adventure.
